About Me

Maria Villarreal is a student at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. Originally from Monterrey, Mexico; she has resided in Hoschton, Georgia for ten years. Maria is a self-taught artist, who is truly passionate about art and has had her artwork displayed in the High Museum of Art. She has also won the Winder Lion’s annual Peace poster contest statewide three years in a row. Her interests include creating pieces of artwork with all types of mediums, learning about anything that sounds different or challenging, babysitting animals and infants, trying nonnative foods, taking part in volunteer work at her church, and photographing rare sights that come from crowd watching. Her academic interests include psychology, cultural studies, history, literature, foreign languages, and philosophy. Maria has always been interested in the human mind, its process and connection to the soul. This allows her to learn more of those around her and to expand her philosophical views to resolve any issues that may come her way. When Maria is not busy with priorities, you will find her painting with a ball python wrapped around her neck and a tarantula relaxing on her shoulder, or cuddling with her cat, or cleaning whatever mess she sees.
